![]() If both parents carry the dilution gene, you might also see solid blue, blue-and-white, blue tabby, blue tabby-and-white, blue golden tabby, or blue golden tabby-and-white. ![]() You could have solid black, black-and-white, brown tabby, brown tabby-and-white, golden tabby, or golden tabby-and-white, and they could all be shorthaired or longhaired. So let’s assume she might be a black golden tabby, in which case, the predictions will apply to male kits as well as female. Now, if she’s a true golden, the possibilities depend on the base color, since you can have black golden tabby, or a red golden tabby, or a blue golden tabby, etc. If the mother is a cream (which is much more common than true golden), the male kittens could be cream tabby, red tabby, cream tabby-and-white, or red tabby-and-white, all of which could be either shorthaired or longhaired. :)Īs for your question, the answer depends on what you mean by “golden-brown”, since I can see that as referring to a cream cat or a true golden cat. Howdy, Mouse! Thank you for your kind words. warrior cats ask genetics rainflower shellheart oakheart crookedstar That was probably way too long of an answer than necessary, but basically, Shellheart cannot be dilute, and he must be some sort of tabby. So, I would probably have Shellheart end up as a black-based spotted tabby (possibly silver if you want to have him still look somewhat grayish), although he could easily be a chocolate or cinnamon spotted tabby. As Shellheart is described as dappled, that works reasonably well for a spotted tabby. He could simply be black, but then Crookedstar can’t be a tabby. The problem lies in the fact that Oakheart’s got to be dark if he’s going to remain similar to his canon looks, and with Rainflower already dilute, Shellheart cannot be. Assuming Rainflower also carries cinnamon, that part checks out. In my reworkings of the family tree, Appledusk is fawn, so Willownose carries the gene while still being blue, and Shellheart inherits the the cinnamon/fawn gene without showing it. ![]() My headcanon is that Oakheart is solid cinnamon, while Crookedstar is a fawn (or possibly cinnamon) tabby. How do we know? The fact that they are described as being dark brown tabbies is enough evidence without their stripe colors being mentioned.Hello, Spiderwhisker! As it happens, I’m doing the same thing with Rainflower, and am also in the process of figuring things out for Shellheart. Cats like Tigerstar and Bramblestar are black tabbies. These cats are genetically black cats (since a tabby's stripes is the actual color of the cat). A black tabby is a dark brown cat with black stripes. Shaded cats are pretty complicated, but basically there apart of the silver series, shaded tabbies are usually ticked silver cats with whatever color the cat is genetically (example, a ticked silver cat with black tabby markings is a black silver shaded tabby). ![]() But he's not a black tabby, he's a black SHADED tabby. In warriors, there's really only one cat (that i can think of) that is described as being a black tabby and that's Darkstripe. However leafpool isn't the only genetically impossible cat, literally over 50% of all warriors characters are genetically impossible given their parentage, however this isn't really a huge issue of mine.īut there is a color of tabby that is very rarely used in the warrior cats series and when its used, its misused because the authors probably don't know what this because these cats look mostly brown but they aren't. I don't expect the authors to know everything about cat genetics but its kinda funny when leafpool is a chocolate tabby despite both of her parents having the red gene. So warrior cats has a pretty bad grasp on cat genetics.
